Person-centred Counselling

The form of talking therapy that came before most others, this approach helps you to discover how things are for you in relation to yourself, the World and other people. You are helped to explore your feelings and to rationalise the feelings that are related to them, on the way to discovering a more satisfying way to be.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

A widely known, popular and effective way to recovery, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is used to get you and me working together on the matters that are challenging the person today.  It involves examining causes and triggers for unwelcome emotions, what helps to manage them and then identifies ways to manage your feelings and thoughts as you become your own therapist.

Transactional Analysis

TA helps us to understand how we can work on how we interact with other people… and ourselves, on the way to telling us how we are all responsible adults, parent figures and children of all ages!.  It reminds us that we have an unconscious part of our mind as well as the conscious part, and that we can learn new ways to work with these to communicate more effectively with each other so that we can be understood and valued while listening to other people.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is about deliberately focusing on our existence: where we are, what we’re doing, what is happening around us.  The practice helps us to be in this moment, so that we are less disturbed and bothered by the past or intrusive thoughts that we didn’t ask to turn up.  The process is like the settling of layers of experience that leads to a more peaceful mind as we let go of anxiety, anger and low mood.
